EFFECTIVE WAITING
Memorise: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who
through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hebrews 6:12
Read: psalms 119:166-168
Every believer is expected to wait on the Lord in one area or
another. The good news is that there is a joy of fulfilment when your
expectations finally emerge because according to Psalms 25:3-5, those who wait
on Him shall not be ashamed. Have you been waiting on the Lord in a particular
area or in multiple areas? You shall not be ashamed in Jesus name.
However, there are things you can do during your waiting period
which will positively affect your expectation. While you wait, you can please
Him by obeying His commandments (Psalms 119:166-168). If you truly want God to
fulfil His promise to you, making Him happy should be uppermost in your heart.
If you are expecting promotion from your boss at your place of work, you will
do everything to impress him. Some people will even go to unimaginable levels
to convince their boss of their performance. What are you doing to convince God
that you are truly a candidate for His promise? Don't you know that God takes
note of your responses to Him while you are waiting? It is very unfortunate
that some people waste their waiting period by living in disobedience to His
Word during this period. Are you trusting God for an ideal marriage partner?
Then do not waste your waiting period living in any form of evil - both in
thoughts and deeds, as these can hinder the realisation of His promise in your
life. Are you trusting God to fulfil His promise concerning the fruit of the
womb? Then do not sleep with other women as your plan B. Any alternate plan that
excludes you from waiting only on the Lord must be discarded. Are you expecting
God's promise regarding financial breakthroughs? Then be faithful to God in
giving, paying tithe, offerings, redeeming pledges, etc. Some people owe God in
these areas yet they are still expecting the fulfilment of His promise. They
may be wasting their time. Stay in the place of obedience. Do not violate any
of God's commands. Do only what will make Him happy and when your day comes,
your blessing will not pass you by.
KEY POINT
How you spend your waiting period will make or mar your expected
promise.
